GOAT DELIVER HUMAN LIKE KID

The sleepy town of Ogotu-Ekiti in Ekiti SouthWest Local Government Area, of western Nigeria was on Tuesday thrown into confusion when news spread that a goat had delivered a human-like kid.

The strange incident, which occurred in Lori Oke settlement, a village that is about 10 kilometres from Ogotun town, drew the attention of hundreds of residents and travellers.

The spokesman of the community, Sunday Ogunmeji, who spoke with NAN correspondent on behalf of the Baale (community head), Ganiyu Adetoun, said a pastor, Mr Daniel Odedele, helped to deliver the goat of the baby.

'After watching the goat labour for several hours, the pastor took pity on it and courageously pulled the baby out, only for it to turn out to be human-like. The `baby' had all the features of a human being such as human face, head, hair, female genitals, two legs and two arms with hoofs.

'However, the human-like baby died at about noon as a result of lack of care as the crowd merely trooped there to watch rather than to attempt to save its life,'' Ogunmeji said.

A resident, Mr Saidi Oladepo, who is a commercial motorcycle (Okada) operator, told NAN that immediately the goat delivered the `human-like baby', it took to its heels.

He said that as soon as members of the community got wind of the incident, they ran helter-skelter in apparent confusion.

He said alarm was raised and the local security agents, referred to as `Peace Corps', were alerted to the incident.

Oladepo added that it took more than two hours to re-capture the goat in the bush.

The traditional ruler of Ogotun-Ekiti, Oba Samuel Oyebode, could not be reached for comment as he was said to be in a meeting of the Traditional Council.

LOLA OMOTAYO EXPLAINS WHY SHE MARRIED PSQUARE'S PETER DESPITE AGE DIFFERENCE

Click for Full Image Size
Peter Obumneme Okoye of P-Square and Lola Omotayo's love story is compelling and amazing. The couple have been in a relationship for over eight years before they finally tied the knot on Sunday, November 17, 2013.

In an interview with ENCOMIUM Weekly in April 2008, the then Business development Director, FK:G2 (a top marketing outfit) had poured out her heart about her relationship with Peter:

My agency handles some of British American Tobacco brands and P-Square was doing a show for us at one of our events in Enugu. Though I had met Peter a couple of times before then, at the show there was some chemistry.

He asked for my number and I refused giving it to him. I told him if you really want to know me, you have to find my number. So he took it as a task and found my number and the rest is history.'

Lola, said to be 35 back then, and the popular singer in his 20s, was not disturbed by the age difference.

Her defence: Like I said, Peter is an old soul and he always tells me that I'm like a 23-year old. Age is just a number. Right now, you can see it around the world. Demi Moore, Usher and some known people. Even in Nigeria here, they are dating people far older than their age. So, we shouldn't base it on the age factor. He doesn't make me feel like he's younger than me.' On the future of their relationship, Lola who now has two children for the music super star had also told ENCOMIUM Weekly, she is not really particular about marriage.

The truth is I'm not particular about marriage. Marriage is not something you rush into. To me, it is over rated in Nigeria. Here, they say marriage completes a woman, but I don't believe in that. There is so much that completes a woman and marriage is not it. I've never focused on that. I'm not the little girl who dreams of her wedding day. I'm not afraid to be alone.

I pray, I am not going to end up alone for the rest of my life, I want a life partner. But the tag, marriage is not something I think is the ultimate. I would take my time rather than rush into marriage only to later discover that it is not what to expect.

And Peter, as well, is dealing with his own career and he wants to focus on that. And you know, may be in a year's time, I would be ready to get marriage and if he's not ready then, we get to go our separate ways. The truth of the matter is that marriage is not in the picture for me right now.' Lola further narrated how she was struck by cupid's arrow: she confessed they were friends for a while before they got intimate:

'Not that long. He was too fine, so I had to kiss him. In the beginning, we were coming from different walks of life and there were later adjustments. When I'm into something, I'm into it, 100 percent. People just look at the social status thing. He's an entertainer, she's a career girl, but it's not about that. He's not the first artist I've dated, not a Nigerian though. He was an international act.'

Peter of P-Square had always told his family and friends it is either Lola or nobody. Even when a former beauty queen and a struggling rapper allegedly got romantically involved with him, he had to disown her for the sake of his love for Lola Omotayo.

Despite their different cultural backgrounds and career paths, the popular artiste's love for Lola did not wane. Even when she got pregnant with their first baby, he didn't shy away from his responsibility.

'The pregnancy is mine and nothing on earth can make me deny it. After all, I didn't impregnate a street girl. The person carrying my baby is an independent and responsible lady who I love with all my heart. So, the baby is mine and I'm proud to be the father. As for marriage, I don't have plans for it yet.'

Pretty Lola Omotayo, a native of Osogbo in Ifelodun local government of Osun State has obviously got more than she bargained for from her more than eight year romance with the Anambra-born Peter Okoye. From leisure trips to exotic car gifts, the half-caste in her late 30s has been pampered far beyond her dreams by the singer whose songs are the toasts of many in Nigeria and beyond.

And now they have consummated their union the traditional way, their family, fans and associates are wishing them everlasting marital bliss.

"CORRUPTION", THREAT TO CHILDREN'S FUTURE

Nigerian children The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, an activist group, has said corruption is one of the challenges facing education in Nigeria. It, therefore, urged the Federal Government to probe the Universal Basic Education Fund.
The Executive Director, SERAP, Mr. Adetokunbo Mumuni, while speaking to our correspondent, said government would be toying with the future of the country if it failed to tackle corruption in the education sector, especially when it concerned children at the basic level.
“It will be disastrous if the foundation level is corrupted,” he added.
Mumuni stressed that if there was corruption at the primary level, the spate of corruption at the secondary and tertiary levels would be better imagined. He pointed out that the injury corruption had done to the sector was monumental.
He added that the menace had both financial and socio-economic implications on the progress of the country.
Mumuni said, “Within three years, $21m was lost to corruption between 2005 and 2006. If we convert that into naira, it means that billions of naira have been mismanaged and embezzled.
“We petitioned the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission when we discovered this fact and it confirmed that what we were saying was correct. It recovered about N2.2bn and it embarked on the prosecution of those found culpable in the crime.”
The SERAP boss advised that the education ministry should be the sole funder of the sector, where the trust funds established by the government failed to fulfil their purposes.
SERAP and global anti-corruption organisation, Transparency International, had in a joint press statement called on the Federal Government to “account for the huge sums of money that are invested in the education sector and be serious about teaching children the value of honesty.”
At the launch of  Global Corruption Report: Education, recently, Mumuni had said corruption had a devastating impact on developing nations, particularly in Africa.
“With respect to Nigeria and the work of SERAP, it is disheartening that this cankerworm was noticed at the foundational level of education in Nigeria – the basic education relating to the Nigerian children – their first nine years of education, where massive embezzlement and misappropriation of funds running into billions of naira took place,” he added.

ABACHA BETRAYED OUR PLOT TO TOPPLE BABANGIDA, INSTALL ABIOLA - COL. UMAR

former military governor of Kaduna State, Col. Abubakar Umar
 Col. Abubakar Umar
In this interview, a former military governor of Kaduna State, Col. Abubakar Umar, comments on burning national issues and tells the untold story of the June 12 election annulment, in this interview with GODWIN OFULUE
What do you think is the cause of the Boko Haram insurgency?
In discussing Boko Haram, I will talk of the general insecurity in the country. Everything is happening in other countries and Nigeria is facing its security challenges; Boko Haram insurgency, kidnapping, robbery, oil theft, Niger Delta militancy, phenomenal piracy on our seas and youth restiveness. And a new development, which we are not paying attention to is the Fulani herdsmen/farmers clashes that are engulfing the northern part of Nigeria. Cattle stealing has led to many deaths in that part of the country. These are the major security issues affecting the country; they are responsible for the seeming inability to deal decisively with the challenges. It is difficult to know how to solve a problem if one doesn’t know the cause.
In the case of Boko Haram, for example, it is very difficult to understand the inspiration of their dastardly acts. What could have made a person approach some people to engage in the killing of innocent school kids? Why are innocent people being slaughtered? Where is the religious justification for throwing bombs at churches and mosques; killing and maiming worshippers? Such acts are senselessness and irrational. There are some supporters of President Goodluck Jonathan who believe that the Boko Haram insurgency is the creation of some northern politicians, claiming that they threatened to make the country ungovernable for the President; that it’s the punishment for his failure to abide by the Peoples Democratic Party’s zoning agreement, which denied the North the presidency. There was war during his (Jonathan) completion of late President Musa Yar’Adua’s tenure and you’ll agree that this war still persists, with the heavy impact of the insurgency of the socio-economic life, particularly in the north-eastern part of Nigeria where there has been a state of emergency in the past six months.
There are some northern politicians who benefit from the insurgency that has taken the live of a respected elder like Gen. Shuwa; almost led to the assassination of Shehu of Borno and the Emir of Kano. Also, there are some northern politicians who claim that Boko Haram is non-existent; that if anything, the Jonathan administration can be using security agents to tackle them so that he can continue to rule beyond 2015. With all these senseless killings, it is difficult to achieve a unity of purpose in the fight against the insurgency.
When you take the issue of the Niger Delta militancy, the struggle started with the agitation for clean environment and equitable distribution of petroleum resources. But it was hijacked by criminal elements, whose major motive was personal enrichment; oil bunkering, pipeline bursting, which led to further degradation of the environment. The Niger Delta youths also moved into piracy and oil theft. One can generalise by saying that our security challenges are as a result of corruption at the centre. For example, most of the Boko Haram members are youths that could have been valuable to the country; they have nothing to aspire to and nothing to lose. As James Baldwin rightly observed, the most dangerous person is he who has nothing to lose. When we say there is so much deprivation, anger, insecurity, and we find them very strange, the Boko Haram members are used to it. It is a way of life to them, which they want to fight. When we look at the Niger Delta militants, they were chaps that were unemployed and they watched helplessly how their oil resources were being cornered by irresponsible, greedy, reckless and immodest elites. When they (militants) saw the kind of structures in Abuja, they envied the elites who had such structures and resorted to self help through militancy, oil theft and so on. Of course, in our kind of democracy, about 70 per cent of our oil revenue is devoted to recurrent expenditure; it is devoted to indolent public servants, 85 per cent of which is for salaries and allowances of members of the National Assembly. You remember that (the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria) Lamido Sanusi had to confront the lawmakers.

LIVERPOOL READY TO SPLASH 7M ON MOSES

Victor Moses Liverpool are keen on securing a permanent deal for Chelsea winger Victor Moses, reports The Metro.
The Reds took the 22-year-old on loan from the Blues in the past transfer window and, despite the Nigerian star in-and-out of the team at Anfield, Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is ready to keep him for the long term.
It’s thought the Merseyside outfit will have to pay their Premier League rivals £7m for his long term services.
Moses however, will be looking for more opportunities at the Anfield outfit before he decides to leave Chelsea for good.
The winger struggled for opportunities at Stamford Bridge and with Jose Mourinho in charge at Chelsea, it’s unlikely he will get many opportunities in the future.
And with Liverpool ready to keep him at the club, Moses may now see his long term future on Merseyside, if he is given more opportunities to shine.
Liverpool currently sit above Moses’ parent club in the table as both clubs go in search of glory this season.
Moses hope he can perform better if given more opportunities at Anfield, and he expresses his delight at playing under Rogers who has a great deal of his respect and admiration.
“He’s a great manager to play under,” Moses told reporters. “He’s very clear with the players. He knows what he wants us to do.
“There’s a winning mentality, but he also realises that if we are enjoying ourselves, we’re likely to do better. I’ve known him since I was 16 – when I was at Palace and he was at Chelsea.
“He really wanted me to go there. I said no a few times. I thought Palace was the best place for me at that time. But he never forgot about me.
“I was delighted when he came in for me again. There were a few clubs interesting in taking me, but when I heard about Liverpool, my decision was made straightaway.”

ASUU STRIKE: A REBELLION - JONATHAN

President Goodluck Jonathan
President Goodluck Jonathan says the strike embarked upon by the  Academic Staff Union of Universities since July 1, 2013 over the non-implementation of 2009 agreement with the Federal Government is no longer a trade dispute but a subversive action.
Jonathan said this at the Peoples Democratic Party state caucus meeting at the Government House, Yenagoa. The meeting, presided over by the party chairman in the state, Col. Samuel Inokoba (retd), started late on Friday and ended on Saturday.
The President was reacting to a plea by a former governor of the state, Mr. Diepreye Alamieyesigha, on the December 4 deadline given to ASUU to call off its strike or be sacked.
Alamieyesigha noted that the same date was fixed for the burial of late Prof. Festus Iyayi, who died in a road accident in Kogi State on November 12, en route Kano for the national executive council.
The NEC meeting was meant to deliberate on the latest government offer after meeting with Jonathan on November 4 to the early hours of November 5.
The  former governor, who is also the Chairman Elders Advisory Forum in the state, urged the President to reconsider the date in order not to be seen as insensitive.
President Jonathan said despite holding the longest meeting in his political career with all the highest officers in his administration present including the Vice-President, Minister of Finance, Minister of Labour, Minister of Justice, the Secretary to the Government and the delegation from the Nigeria Labour Congress,  ASUU did not deem it fit to reconsider its stance.
Jonathan said, “What ASUU is doing is no longer trade union. I have intervened in other labour issues before now, once I invite them, they respond and after the meeting they take decision and call off the strike.
“At times, we don’t even give them a long notice unlike in the case of ASUU that was given four days notice before the meeting. As you are meeting to resolve trade disputes, you expect the trade unions to get their officials ready. What was expected having met with the highest authorities in the land for long hours, was for ASUU to immediately issue a statement within 12 or latest 24 hours to state their position whether they were accepting government’s offer or not. And if they are not accepting, they state the reason for that.
“But despite the fact that I had the longest meeting with ASUU in my political history, we did not start that meeting until around 2 pm and the meeting ended the next day in the early hours of the morning. As far as the government of Nigeria was concerned, all the critical people that should be in a meeting were there, so what else do they want?
He added, “After that, they didn’t meet until one week, despite the fact that you met with the highest authority. It was unfortunate one of them, Prof. Iyayi died.
“The way ASUU has conducted the matter shows they are extreme and when Iyayi died, they now said the strike was now indefinite, our children have been at home for over five months.
“We didn’t give them ultimatum; it was the Committee of Vice Chancellors that took that decision. The supervising minister of education only passed on the decision. What ASUU is doing is no longer trade dispute but subversive action. But like you rightly noted so that we will not be perceived to be insensitive, we will consult on the deadline.”
The Federal Government had on Thursday given ASUU one week ultimatum to call off strike or consider themselves sacked.
Meanwhile, the Academic Staff Union of Universities has dared  the Federal Government to reopen the universities.
The ASUU chairman at the Obafemi  Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Prof. Adegbola  Akinola, said this in an interview with our correspondent in Osogbo on Friday.
The ASUU chairman said members of the union were unfazed  by the deployment of troops to varsities.
The don said he was not sure that the Supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, had the consent of President Goodluck Jonathan before issuing the ultimatum.
He stated that the union did not shut the universities but just withdrew services of its members to press home their demands that government should take steps to reverse the decay in the public universities.

I HAVE NO CANDIDATE FOR 2015 - BUHARI

Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd)
Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd)
A former military Head of State, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd), has said the has no anointed candidate for any political position in the country.
Buhari, also a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, said this on Saturday in Kano at a sensitisation workshop, organised by the Kano APC Forum for Peace and Equity.
The former head of state said he had no candidate and urged anybody who wanted to aspire to any post to feel free to do so.
“Buhari has not anointed anybody as a candidate, so whoever people want is his candidate.
“Whoever emerges for the party as the people’s candidate at the local, state or presidential level is Buhari’s candidate. So Buhari’s candidate is the people’s candidate,” he said.
According to him, the APC as a party is not concerned about Buhari as a person or anybody but about the future of Nigeria and Nigerians.
He urged members of the parties to ensure the success of the APC in future elections.
Buhari was represented by a former member of the House of Representatives,  Faruk Aliyu.
Earlier, the former governor of Kano State, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, who was also represented, stressed the importance of unity among the APC members.
“APC has a history of unity because it came into being following the decision of three parties to merge.”
Also speaking, the chairman of the forum, Umar El-Yakub, urged the party’s leaders to avoid politics of hate, deceit and selfish interest in order to achieve its objectives.

PDP PLOT FIVE REBELS IMPEACHMENT

Ex-PDP govs. The Peoples Democratic Party is plotting to influence state lawmakers to impeach five governors who defected to the opposition All Progressives Congress last week.

SUNDAY PUNCH’s investigations in Abuja on Friday showed that the ruling party would soon set up committees to lobby members of the houses of assembly to impeach the governors.
The governors who defected are Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State. Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano; AbdulFatah Ahmed of Kwara
Murtala Nyako of Adamawa and Aliyu Wamako of Sokoto State.
However, Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu, and his Jigawa State counterpart, Sule Lamido, who are also among the PDP rebel governors, said that they had not left the ruling party. Nevertheless, the two governors have remained vocal about their displeasure with the state of the PDP.
It was learnt that the committee in each of the states would work out modalities to get members of the houses of  assembly loyal to the PDP to move against the five governors.
It was also gathered that the impeachment plot, which members of the National Working Committee, had been considering since the governors joined the APC on Tuesday, would be formally adopted at the committee’s emergency meeting on Monday.
In addition to lobbying for the removal of the governors, the committees are also to be tasked with the responsibilities of ensuring that the PDP members in the state houses of assembly remain in the party.
Then again, a senior party official who spoke on the condition of anonymity told our correspondent that the party had not completely shut its door against the governors who defected. It was learnt that President Goodluck Jonathan, at today’s (Sunday) meeting with the rebel governors’, would appeal to those who had defected to the APC to change their minds. But the source added that the impeachment plan would be set in motion if the President’s appeal was not heeded.
The source said, “This plan is going to form part of the deliberations during the emergency meeting of the party’s National Working Committee on Monday.
“The plan is to set up a committee made up of trusted members of the party in the affected states to identify loyal party members in the houses of assembly to maintain the party’s hold. These governors cannot have their cake and eat it.
“If we are able to get the majority of the lawmakers in any of the states to support us, the house of assembly in such a state will commence impeachment proceedings against the state governor.”
The party confirmed to one of our reporters that it was considering how to deal with those who used its platform to get to office and later ditched it.
The National Legal Adviser of the party, Mr. Victor Kwom, who disclosed this via the telephone, on Thursday, said the party had not foreclosed any of the options available to it.
While responding to inquiries on whether the party would seek the removal of the affected governors from office, Kwom said “We have not foreclosed any angle on this matter. We are considering all options.”
When contacted, spokesman for the Sokoto State governor, Mr. Sani Umar, said his principal was out of the country, adding that he was not in a position to respond to any inquiry on the issue.
His counterpart in Adamawa State, Ahmad Sajoh, on behalf of Governor Murtala Nyako said, “Everyone has a destiny and it walks towards you. You cannot change it. Let them do their worst and God will choose the best for the faithful.”
The spokesman for the Kano State governor, Baba Dantiye said, “Let’s wait and see what happens on Sunday.”
The Presidency however, said President Goodluck Jonathan was not interested in removing any governor. The Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Mr. Ahmed Gulak, said this in an interview with one of our correspondents, on Friday.
The presidential aide said, “Mr. President is not interested in removing any governor from office. He is a democrat who believes strongly in the liberty of individuals to join any political party of their choice.
“The President has said many times that he is open to peace talks but he will not force anybody to remain in the party.
“If you no longer like the party, you can leave but what we are telling them is that there is nothing outside the party. They can ask those who left before them and had to return.
“If they leave the PDP, there are people who are willing to take over the party structures in their states and build them to formidable levels.
Reacting to the impeachment moves, the Interim National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr. Lai Mohammed, said: “Of course we are not in doubt that the PDP/Presidency will now unleash all its formidable persecuting agencies such as the police, EFCC, ICPC, FCT planning authorities etc, to destabilise these governors.
“The governors of these five states enjoy the confidences of their various legislative houses and as such there is absolutely no fear of impeachment. However, we are convinced that the PDP/Presidency will foment trouble in those states to create chaos and declare state of emergency but I can assure you they won’t succeed.
“Rest assured that any attempt by the PDP/Presidency to thwart or frustrate the fusion will be gallantly resisted by us.”
In the same vein, the spokesperson of the New PDP, Mr. Chukwuemeka Eze, said there was no way the governors could be removed.
Eze said though he heard about the moves by the Tukur-led PDP, to consider the legal option, he expressed optimism that such an attempt would fail.
Eze said, “We have heard that. It won’t work at all, and that is the truth. Don’t forget that the PDP itself had benefitted from other political parties when it threw its doors open to other governors from both the All Nigeria Peoples Party and the Progressive People’s Alliance. So, it is payback time.
“The PDP is now reaping from the fruit it planted. We are now serving them from the food they cooked, and in bigger measure.”
Besides, Eze said that the Supreme Court had settled the issue in the case of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and the Federal Government when the former VP left the ruling party to contest the presidential election on the platform of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria in 2007.
“So any case the PDP files against these distinguished Nigerians would end up as an academic exercise,” Eze added.

5 LIES WOMEN ALWAYS TELL MEN

 Lie #1: “Oh! It’s fine. I’m OK”
Guards on guys! You must know that she’s not fine at all and nothing is OK. And sooner or later you will have to bear the burnt of her pent up emotions that she has somehow managed to hold back until now. You’ll find her taking this emotional defense on occasions when you may have forgotten her birthday, taken her for granted or have done anything that hurts her.
“Whenever my girlfriend lets go off my not so fatal error with a cool ‘it’s fine’, I know it’s nothing but the calm before a cyclone that I am fated to face in the time to come,” shares Sandeep Sharma, a Delhi-based management student.
To portray that she doesn’t care, the emotional lady prefers taking a refuge in this lie. Charu Marwah, a software engineer admits, “I prefer staying that ‘It’s OK’ because if I react I’ll be blamed of being a constant cribber, who is in complaining mode always. Though, I actually want him to go down on his knees and plead forgiveness.”
Lie detector: Well, an experienced lover would know of the crime that he has committed, but the amateurs should look out for her reactions. She might not get vocal, but will do everything to make you feel guilty about the fact that you have hurt her. From being tight-lipped to giving the briefest responses that don’t go beyond ‘hmms, huhs or yes and no’, to mean tones and loads of sarcasm – are a few hints that you can look out for. “Women have a tendency of expecting their man to understand the said, as well as the unsaid, and that leaves men in a dicey situation. And even here, by keeping quite or going away with a small ‘I’m fine’, she expects him to know that she’s hurt,” explains psychologist, Dr. Aruna Broota.
Lie # 2: “I love you for what you are”
…and I don’t want you to change. Well, may God be your saviour if you believe her for this. No wonders, if sheer pampering or impressing you might strictly be on her mind when she’s saying this. “I just loved my wife whenever she averred this phrase. But gradually the knick-picking started and reality dawned upon me. At times it was my eating choice that bugged her, while at others it was my dressing style that she wanted to improve. Yet she continued to tell the blatant lie that she loved me for what I was,” complained Madhukar Suhas, a Mumbai-based advertising professional.
Agreed, that you don’t like this lie. But just imagine how it would feel if on your face she told you much she hated your paunch or how bad you looked in those lose-fitted denims. Thank her appreciating you taking care of your confidence levels.
“What do I do? I have to blow his trumpet when he does the right thing. After all, it was his qualities only that I married him for. And also, it becomes important to boost his confidence at times and those words just have the right impact,” says Madhu Chandra, a Delhi-based-teacher.
Lie detector: If you start observing the occasions when she backs this mushy phrase, you might just realise she’s not lying at all. On most of the occasions it comes when you have made her happy with anything like a gift, a movie, a romantic dinner or for that matter by doing anything and everything that she loves. You were good to her and that’s your innate quality, which made her fall for you.
Lie # 3: You stare, I don’t care!
Either you are too lucky to have the coolest woman by your side, or you are getting an inflated ego without any reason if you believe her on this. No matter how hard she tries to look cool and composed, but the fact remains that no woman loves it when her man ogles at another woman. “After all, who wants to feel like second best? And the ‘I don’t care attitude’ is usually to hide the vulnerability and a pretence. Most women hate their man staring at another woman,” confesses Radhika Khattar, a Delhi-based housewife.
Lie detector: She doesn’t want to show you how she’s feeling and is no less desperate to tell you that you are torturing her to the core. Well, easy indications to know she’s lying can be the trail of questions she’ll end up asking you. Casually and candidly she’ll ask you things like ‘Isn’t she hot?’ ‘What makes her so hot? ‘Did you like her?’ She might appear to be your best buddy, but actually she wants to ask you, ‘Do I score less that the chic you are ogling at?’ And your answer will decide your fate not immediately, but definitely in the future, so better beware of what you say!
Lie # 4: Your friends are cool!
This might not be a lie always, but many a times your friends are nothing but a ‘passion spoiler’ for your girl, especially when they pop up during private moments. “When we started dating, on many occasions we went out with my friends. And every time I used to ask her, ‘I hope you are enjoying?’ she answered, ‘They’re cool!’ The real shock came when one day I was planning another group date and she gave me a good piece of her mind. It’s then that I realised that she didn’t love them as much I thought she did. But she could have initially told me,” says Rajat Sarin, a 20-year-old college student.
“Most of the times women end up praising your friends for you. They don’t want to hurt you by revealing the truth and hope that you’ll understand without saying, which usually doesn’t happen,” explains psychologist, Dr Sameer Parekh.
Lie detector: A sure shot hint to the lie is written on her face. Despite being in the group she’ll remain an outsider. The smile that’s usually worth a million dollars might just look purely artificial and forced. Her replies to all your enquiries will end in a cover up lie, ‘I’m fine sweet heart’ or ‘I’m enjoying myself’ and that takes you to Lie #1. So, when you get something like this from your girl, understand that you are getting into too much buddy-bonding!
Lie # 5: Tell me, trust me I won’t get angry
This one is tricky, leaving you with a ditch on one side and a bigger ditch on the other. This lie is usually thrown at you when she wants an honest opinion and knows what it can be, but still wants to hear it. Beware guys! Irrespective of what you say, she is going to get furious for sure. This usually happens in questions related to her looks, the food that she cooks, that tangy orange shirt she brought for you etc.
“Sometimes it is tough to handle. Once, my wife asked my honest opinion on a super tight dress that she had worn. And, I told her honestly that she was looking like a stuffed pillow and she was mad at me. Taking cues from my past experience; on another occasion I did my best to flatter her. To my sheer surprise, even that made her angry and she blamed me for not being a fair critic,” complains Suraj Malhotra, a Delhi-based architect.
Lie detector: Well, there’s no detector for this one, for undoubtedly she’s lying. Then what’s the solution? Answers Parekh, “It’s not that women cannot take true criticism from their man or expect praises all the time. But what they actually expect is that criticism should come in a softer and suggestive manner, rather than a striking taunt on her looks. So, without being too critical or over flattering, just tell her that she needs to work out on her minuses.”
PHEW! This was from us. Now it’s your turn to share the sweet and salty white lies that you tell your man or your wife pours on you to leave you playing a guessing game of truth and false.

BOKO HARAM, CRUDE OIL THEFT: NIGERIANS NEED A COMPETENT PERSON AS PRESIDENT

Amaechi 4 The Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, on Thursday said rising insecurity and crude oil theft in Nigeria is influenced by poverty.
Mr. Amaechi stated this in London during a presentation on “Security and Human Rights in the Niger Delta.”
“We need a Nigerian president who will rule the country as a nation; for instance, the issues of Boko Haram, kidnapping and oil theft are poverty related.”
“When people are not meaningfully engaged, they become willing tools for destruction.”
“Government has to create opportunities for people to be educated and engaged,” he said.
He also stressed the need for government to deal with the issue of impunity, saying “we are talking about oil theft and nobody has gone to jail”.
“If we deal with the issues of impunity and poverty, oil theft will reduce, kidnapping and other crimes will be on the decline; this we can do by collaborating with the local and international communities,” Mr. Amaechi said.
The governor said that his administration had put in place various initiatives and schemes in the areas of agriculture, health and education.
“We have built and equipped 500 primary schools with ICT facility” to empower our youths,” he said.
According to him, providing social security through basic amenities is vital to Nigeria’s development.
Among Mr. Amaechi’s audience were some members of the British House of Commons who suggested the use of surveillance aircraft as a better means of tackling incessant cases of oil theft and bunkering in Nigeria.
They said that better surveillance would ensure direct information gathering on what quantity of oil is being stolen and those involved in the crime.
They said that oil theft, insecurity, and environmental degradation were big challenges which required rapid response and synergies between states and the Federal Government.
The members also noted the increased level of piracy in the Gulf of Guinea, saying that the development had made it difficult for seafarers to go to West Africa.
Nigeria has sought assistance of the international community in tackling oil theft by calling for close monitoring and prosecution of companies and individuals involved in the illegal trade.
The event was attended by some Nigerians in the Diaspora and Rivers State students on scholarship scheme in the U.K.

“PRESIDENT IS HUMAN”: WHY JONATHAN DECIDED TO “COME DOWN HARD ON ASUU”

Leaders of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) yesterday moved from Abuja to their respective campuses expecting crackdown, as the Federal Government has issued several threats.
Capture
President Goodluck Jonathan might no longer be directly involved in negotiation with the lecturers: he is angry for the ASUU leaders’ contempt for the office of the President, their decision to issue new conditions and theim being allegedly backed by some external forces.
After spending almost a week in Abuja in hopes of resuming talks, the ASUU leaders were eventually left with no other option but to go back to their campuses.
A top leader of ASUU said on conditions of anonymity: “Our leaders have returned to their campuses. They were disappointed with the Area Boy or Agbero method adopted by the Minister.
“The military style of the Minister of State for Education will only compound the situation.
“So, we are back to our trenches as it was the situation during the military era. We are ready for the worst now. If the situation becomes uncontrollable, we will also go underground and resort to guerilla tactics.”
Meanwhile, a source within the Federal Government said: “We hope that they will not overreach their bounds, because what they have done in the last four months amounted to economic sabotage.
“If they continue to take the law into their hands by paralysing activities in the universities, we may try them for economic sabotage. This is also the extreme end the government may go too.
“Let them study the enabling laws to see what they have been violating. We are not yet disposed to wielding the big stick, but if the government is pushed to the wall, it will invoke relevant laws to manage the situation. We are waiting for what they will do.”
A different source added: “”ll the security agencies have been directed to protect lives and property on all the campuses nationwide, especially in the universities that have reopened.
“Union leaders are also under watch to prevent recourse to self-help, which may lead to wanton destruction of property.
“The government will not tolerate any intimidation or harassment, and any violent union leader risks being arrested. But those who restrict themselves to the confines of the law have nothing to fear.”
On Jonathan’s position, a government source said: “We are trying to insulate the Office of the President from further negotiation with ASUU if at all the union will allow such or there will be room for such.
“We think relevant ministers and the Committee of Pro-Chancellors/Vice-Chancellors should be able to handle the rest of the talks/negotiation.”
According to investigation, the December 4, 2013 ultimatum given by the Minister of State for Education, Mr. Nyesom Wike, followed the directive of the Presidency.
The government source added: “The President is angry because he over-indulged ASUU leaders. It is only in Nigeria you see the President sitting for 13 hours with union leaders on any issue and at the end of the day, there will be no courtesy from the union.
“While the President was expecting feedback from ASUU leaders within 72 hours, they kept him in suspense for two weeks or more.
“And instead of feedback on where the talks stopped, ASUU leaders came up with fresh conditions when even during the negotiation, they admitted that some of the clauses in 2009 agreement cannot be implemented.
“The President is human. He now has every cause to believe that the strike action seems to have the backing of external forces seeking to bring his administration down. That was why he decided to come down hard on ASUU, too.”

DOES MAN-HOOD SIZE MATTER? GUY MADE DOCUMENTARY AFTER HIS GIRLFRIEND DUMPED HIM, FINDS THE ANSWER

Most women, when they do the dumping, tend to opt for bland yet inoffensive explanations such as “I’m not the right place at the moment” or “I’d like us to be friends”.
One woman’s decision to be brutally honest about why she was dumping 30-year-old comedian and actor Patrick Moote – “Your man-hood is too small – resulted in him making a documentary about man-hood size.
UnHung Hero is a documentary or ‘cockumentary’ as Moote calls it, where he tries to go around the world to find out how other cultures view man-hood size and asks his ex-girlfriends about whether it mattered when they were together.
There are some rather shocked-looking people on the street who are asked for their opinion, and a fairly hairy moment when he visits a group of men for options to make his man-hood bigger and is confronted with a rather scary needle containing the fluid that will ‘pump’ it up.
“Who’s going to be with me after this documentary airs?” Moote wails, but beneath the wry, funny look at man-hood size is a real question waiting to be answered. Some answer it predictably “People who say man-hood size doesn’t matter doesn’t have a big man-hood,” says one brash man, while another lady tries to explain: “It’s like opening a gift and sometimes you have to pretend that the gift is amazing, when it isn’t.”
